Crackdown vs Halo 3 Beta

Now that the Halo 3 Beta has been out for a couple weeks I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on if buying Crackdown was worth it. Personally, I'm happy with my decision to rent Crackdown. I don't really have a desire to play it now that I beat it (although I may check out the new content), and I have a friend who doesn't have internet access that loaned me his Crackdown to check out the Halo 3 beta. Even if he had not I don't think I would be that concerned because I can play the full version of Halo 3 in a few months and there are plenty of great game to keep me occupied until then. Crackdown was a fun game, but in my opinion not worth $60. Even with the included 3 weeks of the Halo 3 beta. There is no replay value once you beat the story so why buy it when you can rent it. So, what are your thoughts on it? Was Crackdown worth the money? Did you buy it just for the Halo 3 beta? If so, was that worth it? Leave a comment and let me know.

  • i am actually playing crackdown INSTEAD of halo 3 beta at times....

to be fair after the update i lost all my stats and orbs, so I restarted gaining my skills etc, and at times I am a bit of an achievement/gamerscore wh....i mean hunter -keeping it family friendly ;)

  • I had planned on buying Crackdown before they even announced that the Halo 3 Beta was going to be involved. I think Crackdown is a lot of fun and have not regretted the purchase for an instance.

    I highly recommend it!

  • All told, Crackdown provided me at least 5 weeks of solid entertainment. I'll pull it down from the shelf once in a while to take a violent drive thru town in the Agency supercar or take to the rooftops in the hopes of finding my 10 remaining agility orbs.

I plan on resetting the gangs and killing them all over again, this time on Psychotic. So yes, I am happy with my purchase of the game!

  • I didn't initially buy Crackdown for the Beta key. It looked like a fun sandbox game and the reviews were positive. I had a lot of fun with the game, although I've not revisited it since completing it (apart from the Beta of course).

  • Unlike QuizzicalDemon, I DID buy Crackdown solely for Halo 3 beta access. I bought it the week of Crackdown's release as I thought that it was a limited offer or something. But, while bored waiting for the Halo 3 beta, I decided to play Crackdown. Truth is I got hooked and to this day, it's my most played game, as you can see!

I love it's sandbox nature and, to be truthful, there's not much in the game I don't like! The day the DLC was released I downloaded both the free and premium content, and it was worth every penny. I'm not playing it so much at the moment, but I know that once the novelty of my other games wear out, Crackdown will be one I can come back and play again and again!

  • I wanted to get Crackdown before Halo 3 beta was attached to it. I don't believe any game is worth $60 though. Crackdown was fun, but it was a short lived fun. Once I beat it I rarely go back and try to get the other orbs even though I only have about 40 green orbs and 15 hidden orbs to go. The co-op is fun, but lacked real team work.
